The Kasese National Unity Platform Party Registrar, Mr. Sam Masereka, has reaffirmed his commitment to fight for regime change and social justice.
Mr Masereka says in the wake of the recent ruling from the supreme court absolving him of any wrong doing but also indicting the Directorate of Intelligence Services-DIS formerly Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence-CMI for subjecting him to torture, he has been encouraged to even fight harder until the NRM loses its grip on power.
On Friday, the High Court Musa Ssekaana ruled that Masereka’s rights were violated while in state custody, ordering the government and the former Director of Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence to pay to him an amount worth 30 million shillings in compensation.
Masereka was arrested on January 07th 2022 and was released on January 26th 2022 by state operatives with grisly wounds inflicted on his body.
He also lashed at those who had initially claimed that the wounds he was nursing arose from epilepsy which they claimed he had also been grappling with. He instead says he has been emboldened to fight for the rights of other prisoners of conscience.
He also made a passionate appeal for the release of Col (RTD) Dr Kizza Besigye from Luzira Prison where he is currently under incarceration.
