Kasese new DHO assumes office

The newly appointed Kasese District Health Officer has today officially assumed office and subsequently handed instruments of power with a call on the health workers to embrace teamwork.

Kasese District Local Government has for the last one year operating without a substantively appointed District Health Officer after Dr. Yusuf Baseke sought early retirement from service.

Dr. Amon Bwambale, who has been the Principal Medical Officer for Busia District was handed instruments of power by Mr. Stephen Bagonza, the Assistant District Health Officer in-charge of Environmental Health, who has been serving the position in an acting capacity. The ceremony was held the District Headquarters.

Mr. Eriab Begumya Ntarwete, the Kasese District Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, who officiated over the function, described Mr. Bagonza, who has been acting as the District Health Officer as a man who was committed to his work and effectively served the position.

He encouraged the new District Health Officer to borrow a leaf from Mr. Bagonza and also cooperate with all staff under his department for effective service delivery.

 In his handover report, Mr. Bagonza indicated that Kasese district has 19 health facilities that have not yet been coded, asking his new boss to convince the Ministry of Health to give codes to those facilities for effective service delivery.

In his maiden speech, Dr. Amon Bwambale, the new District Health Officer pledged to embrace teamwork and motivate all the staff members that are serving under him.

He, however, appealed to them to accord him the due support as he executes the tasks assigned to him by the appointing authority. ENDS
