BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

Kasese Municipal Council has been allocated shillings 57 billion under the Uganda Cities and Municipal Infrastructural Development (UCMID) to construct more important roads in the urban centre.

The revelation was made yesterday by the Municipality Mayor, Mr. Chance Kahindo while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview at his office in Kasese town.

According to Kahindo, the shillings 57 billion comes after the Municipal Council was declared the best in utilizing shillings 53 billion that was given to the urban centre in 2022 under the USMID programme with funding from the World Bank.

The Mayor explained that before the commencement of the new earmarked roads under the Uganda Cities and Municipal Infrastructural Development programme, the roads that have been constructed under USMID programme will have been handed over to the Municipality.

Mr. Kahindo named the new roads to be constructed including Henry Bwambale, Kijongo, Bukonzo rise, Kasese road, Isebiira (Kizungu), Lincoln, Saad and Mutanyawana in Nyamwamba and Central Divisions.

He also stressed that during the construction works, the drainage channels would be catered for in order to curtail floods from causing havoc in the urban centre.
