Kasese Municipal authorities warn residents against constructing illegal structures in the urban centre

BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

Authorities in Kasese Municipality have appealed to the people who wish to develop their pieces of land to first seek guidance from the Division Town Clerks in a bid to void court cases in future.

Mr. Chance Kahindo, the Kasese Municipality Mayor says his office has been awash with information indicating that some people have continued constructing in some reserved plots of land with the urban centre even when the technical team has been cautioning them against the vice.

The Mayor sounded the remarks yesterday while speaking during the Municipal Budget Conference for the Financial Year 2024/2025 that was held at the District Multipurpose hall in Kasese town.

According to Kahindo, no person would be allowed to go ahead with any illegal construction, advising that every developer should have an approved building plan.

The Mayor also lashed at the people for trying to mix land issues with politics, subsequently warning the residents against the practice of coming to his office seeking sympathy basing on their political affiliations. He explained that no one would be favored as long as they have constructed in the reserved pieces of land.

Kahindo directed the Office of the Municipal Town Clerk to carryout continuous supervision of all council projects including greening Kasese town by putting much emphasis on arresting loitering animals that destroy trees planted along the roads.
