The Kasese Municipal Agricultural Officer has warned that the current rains are not suitable for crop growth.
Mr. Asanairi Muhindo Bukanywa says that the current rains are meant to facilitate coffee cherries to ripen arguing that they should not lure the farmers to start planting their crops.
Bukanywa explains that the recommended time for planting will be between March 10th and 20th.
He however implores the farmers to take advantage of the rains to prepare their gardens for the anticipated season that will be short.
Bukanywa advises the farmers to choose crops that are suitable for short seasons citing Groundnuts, beans, cassava and maize among others.
