The Chief Magistrate’s Court in Kasese has further remanded until October 10, 2025 a 30- year-old fisherman to Mubuku Government Prison on charges of unlawful possession of wildlife species.
Court sitting yesterday and presided over by the Chief Magistrate, His Worship George Mfitundinda heard that on September 29, 2025 while at Mwalo Landing Site on Lake Edward in Lake Katwe Sub- County, Fred Masereka was found in possession of a Rhino meat.
He was subsequently arrested, produced before court and remanded to Mubuku Government Prison.
Yesterday, he reappeared before court and on hearing the charges, Masereka pleaded guilty and the Magistrate adjourned court to October 10, 2025 as the date on which it will determine his fate.
The same court remanded a 20-year-old man until October 21, 2025 on allegations of attempted defilement.
Court heard that on September 21, 2025, while at Nyakalingingyo in Ibanda – Kyanya Town Council, Robert Masereka attempted to defile a 15- year-old girl.
Masereka denied the charges and was further remanded to Mubuku Government Prison as prosecution avails witnesses.
