A group of Lhukonzo Bible Translators under the Bible Society of Uganda has reported a progress in the implementation of the project.

According to the members, at least 50% of the Biblical Books have so far been translated from Kinande to Lhukonzo with a call on the community to support the project.

The progress report was delivered today afternoon by Pr. Herizon Bwambale, the Coordinator for the Lhukonzo Bible Translation Project during a press conference that was held at Shiloh Hotel in Kasese town.

The translation work which started on November 01, 2022 has seen 22 Biblical Books out of those in the New Testament translated by a team of experienced personnel including Rev. Fr. Balinande Kambale from the Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Can. Julius Bwambale Kathaghenda from the Anglican Church, Pr. Herizon Bwambale from the SDA Church Yokulidi from the Pentecostal Church among others.

Pr. Bwambale revealed that the Old Testament was still being drafted. He, however, reported they had experienced some financial constraints, a reason why they resorted to organizing the Lhukonzo Bible Translation Dinner slated for tomorrow at Shiloh Hotel. The aim of the dinner is to collect funds to support the project.

Ms. Eunice Sunday Mutooro, the Chairperson for the Women Taskforce in Kasese under the Bible Society of Uganda, Rwenzori Branch reported that the dinner which has been organized under the theme, “Your Word is a Lamp to my Feet and a Light to my Path,” as scripted in the Biblical Book of Psalms 119:105.

She asked the community members to embrace the idea of supporting the project as an alternative way of attracting blessings on to themselves.

Once completed, the project will cost over shillings 3 billion. ENDS
