A section of residents from Kahokya Sub-county in Busongora County South, Kasese district today launched a communal work aimed at renovating the poor roads as an alternative way of minimizing the rate at which accidents are taking place in the area.
The residents also argued that the poor roads existing in the sub-county could be the reasons why they were lagging behind in terms of development.
The communal activity followed yesterday’s incident in which two people lost their lives on spot after being involved in a road accident in Nyaruzigati village.
Mr. Asuman Muhamudu, the Chairperson for Kahokya – Nyaruzigati Boda- boda stage says the Nyaruzigati – Kinyateke – Kitabu road has become too bushy hence contributing to the occurrence of accidents.
According to him, someone in a corner finds it hard to notice a person coming from the opposition direction and eventually causes an accident.
Mr. Raimon Bakonzo, the Nyaruzigati Village Defense Secretary appealed to the district leadership to prioritize infrastructural development.
Mr. Uziah Deya and Rusiasi Mumbere, both residents in the area observed the need for the leaders to open up community access roads and maintain them for the sustainability and extension of transport services to the community.
