Kasese High Court has set March 12, 2025 as the date on which it will deliver its judgment on a case of murder against Ivan Mumbere, a 28-year-old resident of Kitaturwa village, Isango Sub-county in Kasese district.
Through the some witnesses, court was told that on July 30, 2022 at 9pm, Mumbere killed his biological mother, Eunice Kabugho Makoma for yet to be identified reasons.
Mr. John Mbaluwako, a 60-year-old resident of Harukungu village, who is a witness in the case, notified court that on the night of the said date, Mumbere came to him and reported that his mother had died, and that he was looking for a music system for use at the burial.
Mbaluwako, who also doubles as the Chairperson L. C I for Harukungu village, disclosed that as they were still talking with Mumbere about the matter, he received a phone call from his counterpart, Mr. Ivan Mupalata, the L. C I Chairperson for Kitaturwa village, alerting him to call police in case he sees Mumbere, so that he is arrested for allegedly killing his mother.
According to him, since he was still with Mumbere, he immediately alerted police which swung into action and arrested the suspect.
Ms Beatrice Mbambu, a neighbor to the suspect told court that while at her home, he heard Mumbere breaking the door of the mother’s house, adding that when they ran to the scene, the found the suspect standing next to the deceased person and chased them away.
Hon. Justice David Makumbi, the Kasese High Court Judge, then set March 12, 2025 as the date on which he will rule over the matter.
The same court is tomorrow expected to deliver a judgment on a land conflict involving the proprietors of Unique Valley Primary School and Nyakatonzi Cooperative Union Limited. ENDS
