High Court in Kasese has set February 13, 2025 as the date on which it will deliver a judgment on the land wrangle between Unique Valley Primary School and Nyakatonzi Cooperation Union Limited.

On February 03, 2025, Security in Kasese suspended the operations of Unique Valley Primary School, a privately owned institution of learning in Kasese town following the said land issue.

Subsequently, the Kasese District Deputy RDC in-charge of Busongora County, Mr. Zepher Mubingwa told the press that the school was not safe to accommodate the learners amidst the wrangles existing between the school operators and Nyakatonzi Cooperative Union Limited.

He directed that no one would be allowed to enter the school premises until today after receiving guidance from the High Court.

Mubingwa revealed that previously after learning about the wrangles, the RDC’s office tried to mediate both parties to have the issues amicably settled but they decided to run to the courts of law.

Today, the Kasese High Court Deputy Registrar, His Worship Ivan Nkwasibwe visited the site and confirmed that on February 13, 2025, the judgement would be ready to be given out.

He, however, advised both parties to also try mediation as an alternative means of solving the issue.

.Asked whether the school had been closed as directed by the Security team, the proprietors of Unique Valley, revealed that there was no way for them to close the institution since they didn’t receive any communication directing them to do so.

Counsel Geoffrey Mishele from Spero Advocates, who is representing Nyakatonzi Cooperative Union Limited in the case, said he would wait for the judgement.
