Kasese: Fresh tensions erupt between Saulo Maate and Robert Centenary

BY JOACKIM KULE

Mr. Saulo Maate, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Commissioner in-charge of Rwenzori Sub-region has described the former Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Robert Franco Centenary as someone who does not respect the opposition party.

Mr. Maate accuses Centenary of allegedly misleading the party members to boycott the consultative meetings organized by the party’s founding President, Col. (Rtd) Dr. Kizza Besigye who is expected to be in Kasese district on Sunday April 07, 2024.

Recently, the Forum for Democratic Change Katonga Faction released a roadmap for the countrywide meetings aimed at devising means of either reconciling with the Najjanankumbi Faction, follow court orders or form another political party.

The other issue is to see whether the FDC Katonga Faction can for the meantime be accommodated in another opposition political party as they forge their next course of action.

While addressing the press today afternoon at the FDC offices in Kasese town, Mr. Maate discouraged the people from listening to the alleged message by Hon. Centenary that bars them from attending the consultative meetings, arguing that he does not possess the character of the opposition FDC party.

While contacted on phone, Hon. Centenary who is the FDC Vice Chairperson in-charge of Western Region and a member of the Najjanankumbi Faction said he has no ill intentions about the Katonga Faction. He also denied having circulated any information discouraging the people from attending the consultative meetings.

He, however, said he was concerned with the issue of dividing the party members contrary to their original ideology.
