Kasese FDC members oppose the formation of a new political party

BY JOACKIM KULE

The leadership of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Kasese branch has revealed that its members in the district will never allow the dissolution and formation of a new political party as it has been suggested by the Katonga faction.

On August 19, 2024, the FDC Katonga faction held a conference that was attended by nearly 1,000 delegates, including key parliamentarians and party officials. During the conference, the delegates proposed the dissolution of FDC as a political party and encouraged members to either form a new party or merge with another political entity.

However, while addressing the press today afternoon at his office in Kasese town, Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Kasese District FDC Chairperson, explained that the people who attended the meeting were not legitimate to decide for the party.

He referred to Article 36 of the FDC constitution which allows the dissolution of the party but argued that the resolution of the Katonga faction was not in order because the delegates did not consult the majority members of the party.

Mr. Kabuku also told journalists that he would soon release a list of names of people who pretend to be members of the FDC but when they are allegedly collaborating with the ruling NRM party to cause confusion within the opposition party.

He appealed to the FDC members to stay calm and accord the necessary support to the party and its candidates that they would front in the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.
