Safety delivery and safe motherhood have been cited as key elements towards realizing infant and maternal health.
Mr. Charles Mwanga Nzaghale, the Chief Executive Officer at Kithulha Care Initiative, a community based organization working in Kasese Municipality says it is important that pregnant women are facilitated to safely deliver their children.
He made the remarks yesterday at Ribona Guest House in Road barrier cell of Bulembia Division after handing over 300 delivery kits commonly referred to as Mama Kits to expectant mothers.
With support from Hope for Sustainable Development –Uganda the consignment of mama kits was handed to pregnant women from the four wards in the division including Nyakabingo III, Namhuga, Katiri and Kyanzuki.
Nzaghale reaffirmed the commitment of Kithulha Care Initiative towards supporting women in the areas of maternal health, sexual reproductive health, urban agriculture, education and sports among others.
Donah Muhindo, the Project Manager at Hope for Sustainable Development –Uganda, encouraged fathers to always escort their wives while attending antenatal care in order to for them to know the best ways of handling expectant mothers as well as their best diet.
Bulembia Division Chairperson, Mr Richard Bomera, emphasised the critical need for maternal health.
Meanwhile, Bulembia Division Female Elder Councilor, Hope Bagonza urged the recipients of the mama kits to use them effectively so that they improve their health at delivery.
