Kasese District Local Government to celebrate 50 years of existence

Kasese District Local Government will in October this year celebrate 50 years of existence.

Kasese district was formed in 1974 under the Provincial Administration of Rwenzori district that was curved out of Kabarole District during President Idi Amin Dada’s regime.

The District Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Elias Byamungu says they are currently mobilizing for the funds to facilitate the celebrations.

According to him, the District Council has already allocated shillings 30 million out of shillings over 100 million that they are expecting to use for the success of the function. 

Some of the activities to be done on that day include rewarding outstanding citizens who have contributed to the stability of the district, adding that those who have already passed on shall be given post- humus recognitions.

The Chief Administrative Officer stresses that during the function, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party shall be recognized for its tremendous contributions to the district ever since it came to power in 1986.

Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, the District Chairperson says after being curved from Rwenzori, Kasese district has been able to offer effective services to her citizens in a number of sectors including Human Resource, Health and Education among others.
