Kasese District Local Government registers strides in the health,education, works, environment and agriculture sectors

Kasese District Local Government has for the last three years registered strides in a number of sectors including health, education, works, environment and agriculture.

The development was revealed today by the District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview at his office in Rukooki.

Mr. Muhindi said that ever since he came to helm of the district, he has keenly been implementing the 2021 – 2026 NRM Manifesto in fulfillment of a social contract that he made with the people of Kasese.

In the education sector, the District Boss revealed that at least 200 students have been recommended for half bursaries at Kampala International University and other institutions of Higher Learning while 27 have been admitted to public universities.

He also said many schools across the district have had their old structures renovated and new ones constructed.

According to him, 105 teachers have been recruited, 100 deputies promoted and 74 Parish Chief recruited.

Under the Health sector, Mr. Muhindi happily said the district has been able to frequently procure medical equipment to many health facilities, construct a Mother’s Hostel at Bwera Hospital, construct buildings at Kyempara Health Center III, Nyakimasa, Nyabirongo Health Center IV, Kabingo, Buhuhira, Bugoye, Katunguru, Katwe and Rukooki among other health facilities.

Under the Agriculture, Water and Environment sector, Mr.  Muhindi explained that over 800 hectares have so far been restored with several tree species planted on the bare hills of Kihara, Kilembe, Bulembia, Nyamwamba and Mubuku valley with support from the Ministry of Water and Environment.

He was happy that a number of micro irrigation demonstrations have been established in Nyakiyumbu, Kighete – Nyakeya – Kyarumba and Hima Town Councils

About the works sector, Mr. Muhindi stressed that some roads on both lowlands and highlands have been constricted, graded while others have been termacked.
