Kasese District Chairperson directs CAO to delete names of stubborn teachers

BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

The Kasese District Chairperson has directed the Chief Administrative Officer to delete the names of teachers who might deliberately refuse to serve in the schools located in hard -to-reach areas from the payroll.

Recently, the District Service Commission recruited new teachers to fill the staffing gaps at some government grant-aided primary schools across the district.

According to reliable sources, among the new teachers, 38 new teachers were got Bukonzo County West, 26 from Busongora County South, 37 from Bukonzo County East, 15 from Kasese Municipality and 40 from Busongora County North and they have since been posted to various schools.

Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, the District Boss says his office has been notified that a good number of teachers who were recently posted to some schools had adamantly refused to report for duty.

Mr. Muhindi has vowed not to spare such stubborn teachers, arguing that there are many other qualified professionals seeking jobs in the education department. He has since directed the Chief Administrative Officer to identify the stubborn teachers and instantly delete them from the payroll so that their positions are re-advertised and taken up by the able and willing ones.

However, Muhindi calls for resilience among the teachers and other civil servants working from the hard-to-reach areas, adding that the list of their names is being compiled for submission so that they begin benefiting from the hard-to-reach allowances within the current financial year budget.
