Kasese District Chairperson appeals for resettling the IDPs

Kasese district chairperson Mr Muhindi Bukombi Eliphaz has made a passionate appeal to President Museveni to prioritise the resettlement of the internally displaced persons in Kasese district.

There are over 1000 people still encamped at Muhokya internally displaced persons camp after their houses were destroyed by the 2020 flash floods that swept away several areas within Kasese town.

Many of these homeless persons were settled in Kanyangeya cell of Nyamwamba Division while there are also other landless persons in areas of Nkoko and Kabukero villages of Karusandara sub-county.

While addressing the president at Kaguta Grounds in Nyakatonzi sub-county, Mr Muhindi noted that it is important that government expedites the process of resettling these people since maintaining them in camps renders them unproductive.
