Kasese DEO warns against denying S.4 candidates chance to sit exams over fees balances

Earnest Bwambale Thabugha, the Kasese District Education Officer has warned Heads of Schools against the practice of denying candidates with school fees balances a chance to sit for their final Examinations set by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).

Mr. Thabugha sounded the warning today morning while issuing an official comment about the commencement of the Uganda Certificate of Examinations at all the 77 UNEB centres across the district.

Thabugha, who acknowledged that it as true that some students owe some fees balances to their respective institutions, noted that the policy does not allow Head teachers to send away the candidates if they have been registered to sit for the National Examinations.

He also advised the invigilators to give a conducive environment to the learners that will keep them free and concentrated on the examinations.

Joseph Nzukwa, the Chairperson for the Association of Secondary School Head Teachers of AssociationUganda in Kasese district who also doubles as the Head of all UNEB Centre in the district, highlighted that the exams started peacefully and were dispatched ontime.

He advised the invigilators and supervisors to abide by the rules and regulations issued by UNEB in an attempt to avoid conflicting with the law.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime assured the students and parents of total security during the examination period.
