Kasenyi Roman Catholic Church in the Diocese of Kasese is looking for over shillings 330 million to put up a new church building following the inability of the old structure to accommodate the ever-increasing number of Christians.
Located at Kasenyi Fish Landing Site in Lake Katwe Sub-County, Busongora County South in Kasese district, the church is an agent of development in the area because it has led to the establishment of a number of projects including Kasenyi Primary School that is promoting education among the residents.
In his report that was read to the Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament Florence Kabugho was in the area yesterday, John Bosco Onyango, a Catechist at the church said they were looking for the said amount of money so that the Christians are relieved from the act of worshipping the Lord when they are outside given the weather changes.
Stephen Kabayi, the Head of Laity at the church, who also doubles as the PTA Chairperson for Kasenyi Primary School, asked the community members to always support some church activities especially the construction of a new structure among others.
In her response, the Legislator commended the church for establishing some development projects in the area and pledged to support its activities.
She also reiterated her earlier promise of supporting the already established SACCOs as way of empowering the members economically.
