Kagando Rural Development Centre (KARUDEC), a development arm of South Rwenzori Diocese has called for partnership with Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu in promoting health education and insurance in an attempt to save the lives of her subjects.

Rev. Can. Dr. Uziah Maate Kiriaghe, the Executive Director at KARUDEC sought the partnership with the cultural institution during a visit to Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma at his Kamaiba based palace in Kasese town.

According to him, the partnership would help to promote science education at Uganda Christian University – Kagando College, advocate for health insurance and demonstrate the works done at KARUDEC through Kagando Primary School, Kagando School of Nursing and Midwifery, Kagando School of Medical Sciences and Laboratory Technology and the university that is yet to be fully affiliated to Uganda Christian University, a Church of Uganda founded institution of Higher Learning.

The Church Minister explained that with the help of cultural and political leaders, the partnership can realize a positive impact for the benefit of the various communities within and out of the Kingdom.

Mr. Samuel Mugisha, the Chief Executive Officer for Streamline Insurance Company that partners with KARUDEC to offer insurance services, told the Omusinga that they were happy to have partnered with a variety of hospitals across the district and registered a positive feedback from the community members.

According to him, their partnerships are aimed at saving lives and looking forward to seeing people pay less money for the medical bills.

In his response, the Omusinga said he was happy with the services offered by KARUDEC to the public especially in the health department.

According to the Rwenzururu Cultural Leader, having specialized doctors at Kagando Hospital is an indication that the facility is minding much about people’s health.

He subsequently implored his subjects to welcome the idea of the health insurance at Kagando Hospital and appealed to the parents to take their children to study science related courses at Uganda Christian University – Kagando College.
