Kabatunda-Kirabaho town council decries low funding

BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

Kabatunda-Kirabaho Town Council in Busongora County North has decried the low local revenue collections subsequently failing the lower local government from accomplishing certain tasks and responsibilities.

Mr. Dominic Nzirapande, the Town Council Chairperson says a paltry 1.3 million shillings is collected from the local business community annually which affects the provision of services to the local population.

Nzirapande, who talked to Messiah Radio yesterday, reveals that the entire 60-million budget that they operated in this financial year literally came from central government and donor funding.

He is however happy that during the forthcoming financial year, the urban council has been considered to get an enhanced funding of shillings 150 million to improve the road infrastructure.

He also appeals to other development partners to come on board and support the town council in realizing her development projections citing the example of Great Lakes Peace Center which is in the process of constructing a gravity water flow scheme to serve the people of Busibi and Kayembe villages with tapped water.
