BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

Hundreds of people in Kasese district today thronged their respective sub-county headquarters seeking nomination forms for the position of village chairpersons ahead of the NRM party vetting exercise slated for May 06, 2025.

The activity marked the first day set by the NRM Secretariat for picking and filling nomination forms for the village chairpersons, youth councils, women leagues, and people living with disabilities, veterans and members of the mainstream across the country.

When our reporter visited Nyamwamba Division headquarters in Kasese Municipality, he came across a 70-year-old man, Luke Tingasimire, a resident of Kizungu Cell in the Scheme Ward picking nomination forms for the position of village chairperson.

Tingasimire told our reporter that despite serving the people of Kizungu Cell for the last 17 years, he still believes that he has the potential to deliver effective services to the electorate once re-elected.

Mr. Hamda Njiima, the incumbent Chairperson for Kyaminyoku – Kihalimu Cell in the Central Division who has served for 30 years, said he was forced to seek re-election after observing that he had some incomplete programs for implementation for the benefit of the community members.

Mr. Amon Mbusa, the Kasese District NRM Registrar says that the exercise will run for six days. He, however, asserts the age of the youth leaders has been reduced from the age of 35 – 29.

Kasese District NRM acting Vice Chairperson, Mr. Johnson Kamalha Kalyasa appeals to the contestants to keep peace, unity and discipline.
