A section of health workers attached to Kasese District Local Government has requested for promotions and hard to reach allowances as a motivational factor for the services that they offer to the community.

They presented their request yesterday during the District Bi-annual Performance Review Meeting that was held at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese town.

Mr. Ainea Muhindo, the in-charge at Bunyandiko Health Centre II on Kilembe Sub-county said the conditions in which they work are complicated the topography of the area.

He immediately suggested to the Human Resource Office of the district to devise means of allocating some allowances to them so that they are motivated like the rest of their fellows working in other districts.

Mr. Pauline Masereka, the in-charge at Kamasasa Health Centre II in Mpondwe – Lhubiriha Town Council noted that they needed to be promoted to other higher positions in the sector.

Responding to their concerns, the Kasese District Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Elias Byamungu encouraged them to execute their work as the descriptions on their appointment letters.

According to him, Kasese is not categorized as a hard to reach district because most of its areas are accessible by means of motorcycles.

He revealed that he was organizing to transfer some health workers who might have overstayed at their stations of work.

The acting District Health Officer, Mr. Stephen Bagonza warned the health workers against absenteeism and late coming at the various facilities where they are posted.
