Grief as Nyakahya residents lay to rest an ADF victim

It was a somber mood at Nyakahya I Cell of Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council as residents laid to rest Claris Nzoghera.

Nzoghera, a businesswoman at the Customs Market met her death on Thursday night after the vehicle in which she and three others were travelling in was intercepted by suspected allied democratic forces rebels who fired bullets and subsequently set trailer ablaze.

Nzoghera had been returning from Kisoro where she had gone to buy onions for resale at the border market. The 43-year-old mother of six was eulogized by many as a hard working woman with a big smile.

Capson Sausi, a former parliamentary hopeful, said he had been robbed of a very loving and enterprising woman.

However, Kasese District Chairperson Eliphaz Bukombi Muhindi said the attack by the ADF is an indicator that the rebel outfit has collaborators within the community.

The Minister of State for National Guidance Mr Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga conveyed government’s sympathies to Nzoghera’s family.

Kabbyanga who also said President Museveni has been by the incident also delivered the 5 million shillings contribution from the president to support the family in the funeral arrangements. Hon Kabbyanga adds….

The minister, however, reiterated Muhindi’s message of the need to rid the community of any persons who might be working as informants for the rebel outfit.
