Government donates tablets to a section of people living along the Ugandan border of Mpondwe to ease communication

Government through the Ministry of Information, Communication Technology and National Guidance under the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has donated tablets to the people living at the Ugandan border of Mpondwe to strengthen communication in the area.

A tablet is a small, very thin, portable computer, usually battery-powered, having a touch screen as the primary interface and input device, and often lacking a cover.

The 200 tablets which were today given to the people of Bukonzo County West at Bwera Primary Teachers’ College were lobbied by the Minister of State in-charge of National Guidance, Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kiime.

Handing over the tablets to the beneficiaries, Minister Kabbyanga asked them to utilize the donated ICT items positively.

 Mr. Jude Mulindwa from UCC revealed that the tablets that were lobbied by Hon. Kabbyanga purposely to bridge the communications gap and to also monitor government programs and services in the area, asking the beneficiaries to use them rightly so that they meet their intended purpose. 

Some of the beneficiaries including the Chairperson for the National Resistance Movement Youth League in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council, Sadadi Baluku, commended Hon. Kabbyanga the initiative, adding that it would help them to access information for quickly.

Mr. Suzin Mbusa, the Head Prefect at Bwera Secondary School and Fedrine Kyakimwa, the Head Prefect at St. Charles Vocational Secondary School – Kasanga applauded Hon. Kabbyanga for extending such a service to them.

Esteri Rashida, Jetress Biira, Yonia Biira and Joshua Bahati  Thamwanzire, other beneficiaries  from Nyamambuka and Kitholhu respectively, commended Hon. Kabbyanga for the ICT gargets also pledged to utilize them rightfully in marketing their businesses.
