At least four health facilities in Kasese district have officially been elevated to other levels with effect from today as the new Financial Year 2025/2026 commenced.
The District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi says the health facilities whose names were submitted to the line Ministry for elevation started their operations with new services offered to the patients today morning.
According to Muhindi, Rukoki Health Centre IV has now been renamed as Rukoki Community Hospital, Bugoye and Nyabirongo Health Centre IIIs have been elevated to Health Centre IVs while Kabingo Health Centre II has been elevated to Health Centre III.
Speaking to the press today at the NRM offices in Kasese town, Muhindi was optimistic that the said health facilities would be given sufficient staff, implying that the district would recruit more personnel.
The District Boss also revealed that they were still pushing for the elevation of Bwera Government General Hospital into a regional referral facility so that the patients are curtailed from trekking long distances to either Mbarara or Fort-portal.
He disclosed that other health centres at the level of IIs had also been submitted to the Ministry for elevation so that they begin offering services of health centre IIIs to the population.
