Foreign athletes have started arriving in Kasese district ahead of the third edition of the Rwenzori Marathon slated for Saturday August 24, 2024.
Mr. Charles Mugisa Police, a member of the Kasese Tourism Investors’ Forum and one of those who are locally mobilizing for the marathon says that runners are already in the district making rehearsals.
He stresses that they are expecting to host more than 4,000 runners who will come from over 32 countries.
Police advises the hotel owners to ensure that they apply high level of hospitality so that the visitors feel comfortable and enjoy the beauty of the district.
Dr. Mugisa Kihire, the proprietor for Kabatooro Guest House in Katwe Kabatooro Town Council urges the residents to be creative by composing songs that would entertain the visitors.
He also advocates for tree planting in order restore the normal temperatures of the district.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Regional Police Spokesperson says they are set to provide the necessary security for the function to end successfully.
