Five Deacons ordained as Priests in South Rwenzori Diocese

Five Deacons in South Rwenzori Diocese have today entered into the order of priesthood while three Ordinands have been ordained as Rev. Deacons by the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku.

The function  themed, “Called to Serve Willingly,” that was held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese town also saw 38 people commissioned as Lay readers with a call on them to transmit the gospel of Christ to the people.

The Deacons who were entered into the order of priesthood included Rev. Simon Bwambale, Rev. Zadoki Mbusa, Rev. Elieziel Muhindo, Rev. Joseph Jamada Bwambale and Rev. James Bamuhayira.

 Milton Magezi from St. Paul’s Deanery, Jerald Mutendaji from Kinyamaseke Archdeaconry and Brian Nsubuga from Kyarumba Archdeaconry were ordained as Deacons.

Some of the people who were commissioned as Lay readers are Edson Kananga, Michael Baluku, Simon Muhindo, Jockus Kule, Constance Masika, Miriam Mbambu, Danson Muhindo, Alex Muhotho, Paul Kadyeba and Yoweri Marahi among others.

While officiating at the ordination function, Bishop Baluku told the Priests to be obedient to the sitting Bishop and all his successors. He also implored them to serve the people of God so that they are saved from sin.

The Prelate later applauded the parents of the newly commissioned Lay readers and Priests for allowing them to join the Church Ministry purposely to help the people understand God.

In his preaching, Rev. Can. Michael Kitooke, the Principal Tutor at Bishop Balya Theological College, who was the Retreat leader, said it was the role of everyone to work for God irrespective of their riches, positions and tribes among others.

Quoting the Biblical Book of 2Corinthians 3:1 -3, Rev. Can. Kitooke observed need for the priests and Lay readers to become exemplary to the communities in which they live so that the people they serve see the Godly aspect in them.
