Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Kasese district has suggested to the District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi to drop Rebecca Kabugho Kabbyanga and Robert Mbusa Kisunzu from the positions with immediate effect.
Rebecca Kabugho Kabbyanga is a member of the District Service Commission while Kisunzu is the Secretary for Works and Technical Services and District Councilor representing Bulembia Division.
The accused persons have been in the limelight for allegedly involving themselves in corruption scandals related to soliciting money from the members of the public, promising to secure for them government jobs at the district but in vain.
It is reported that on July 13 this year, Rebecca Kabugho Kabbyanga returned shillings 5. 3 million she had reportedly collected from Jovia Masika, a resident of Nyakasanga – Umoja Cell in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality as a bribe to help her secure a job as a primary teacher.
Mr. Kisunzu is also accused of allegedly collecting shillings 2.2 million from Juliet Biira, a resident of Kendahi cell in Hima Town Council, promising to secure for her a job as a Parish Chief in 2021 but in vain.
Addressing the press today morning at the party offices in Kasese town, the Kasese District FDC Chairperson, Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, said such corruption scandals call for the intervention of the District Political head so that the perpetrators are punished.
He revealed that as FDC, they demand the District Chairperson to drop all the accused persons from their positions with immediate effect.
Mr. Kabuku stressed that as a party they are ready to mobilize the opposition District Councilors to table a motion of censure against the District Chairperson should he fail to drop the accused persons.
However, when contacted for a comment about the matter, the Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi told our reporter that his office had engaged the Inspector General of Government to investigate the allegations.
He also said that FDC has no mandate to mobilize her councilors to table a censure motion against him.
Recently, the Executive Director of Kasese Youth Link for Development, a community based organization that promotes human rights, Mr. Ronald Kato told the press that at least shillings 62.8 million had been recovered in a period of three months from conmen who were defrauding job seekers by falsely promising to help them secure jobs through Kasese District Service Commission.
