FDC members in Bukonzo County East, Kasese district resolve to remain loyal to the mother opposition party

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) members from Bukonzo County East in Kasese district have rejected the idea of dissolving their original political party and forming a new one.

On August 27, Forum for the Democratic Change Katonga faction formed a new political party, the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) with the goal of promoting freedom and equality for all citizens. The party chose a phone as its symbol and ‘Freedom for All and All for Freedom’ as its slogan. Royal blue and white are the party’s official colors.

The PFF has submitted paperwork to the Electoral Commission to reserve its name and has begun the process of establishing itself as a formal political entity. This new party is the result of a factional split within a previous opposition party, which was plagued by internal divisions and allegations of corruption.

Yesterday, the FDC members from Bukonzo County East held a re-affirmation and mobilization meeting at Kisinga Sub-county headquarters and resolved to pay their allegiance only to the original party with its headquarters at Najjanankumbi.

Janackaison Welle, the Secretary for Defense in Kyarumba Sub-county, said internal bickering in the party at the national level shouldn’t shake their resolution and urged the members to remain firm and stick to their mother party.

Jockus Nzenda, the FDC Chairperson for Nyabirongo Parish in Kisinga Sub-county, said the new party might not achieve its objectives.

Hon. Robert Centenary, the FDC Vice Chairperson in-charge of Western region explained that the re-affirmation process would help to prepare the contestants for the forthcoming elections and put to an end the district level misunderstandings.

According to him, 99% of the FDC members from Bukonzo County East are ready to support their mother FDC party in the 2026 General Elections.

Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku, the Kasese District FDC party Chairperson, urged other members to join the mobilization efforts so that together they present a united message to the people.
