Members of the Forum for Democratic Change in Kasese district today managed to collect an assortment of food and non-food items from the community members to be given to land victims encamped at the RDC’s office in Kasese town despite a caution that was issued to them by police.

On Tuesday evening, the FDC party leadership announced that the members would hold a charity walk aimed at collecting food and non-food items from the public for the benefit of the land victims.

However, they were immediately warned by the Rwenzori East Regional Police who claimed that their move was not cleared by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

According to Kabuku, by this evening, they had collected at least 500 kilograms of cassava flour that are currently kept in the party stores pending delivery to the beneficiaries.

Ms Catherine Muhindo, FDC’s flag bearer for the position of District Councillor representing Nyamwamba Division who participated in the exercise of collecting the items, noted that they were concerned about the lives of the land victims whose rights have allegedly been violated.
