Farmers urged to adhere to the technical guidance given by Agricultural officers

BY JONAN MUZIGIT

Farmers in Kasese Municipality have been advised to always follow the technical guidance given to them by the Agricultural Officers in order to avoid registering regrets in the current planting season.

The advice was sounded yesterday afternoon by Mr. Asanairi Muhindo Bukanywa, the Kasese Municipality Agricultural Officer.

Bukanywa’s advice followed a concern by a section of farmers who had started expressing fear that they might register some losses following the prevalence too much sunshine that is not favourable to their crops.

It was incumbent upon this background that the Agricultural Officer advised the farmers to always follow the technical advice from technocrats.

He also used the same platform to caution the farmers from using roundup on their pieces of land, saying it is associated with negative effects including infertility of the soil hence leading to low harvests in the long run.

Miriam Masika, a farmer at Kirembe in the Central Division who according to her planted beans, revealed that she had developed a lot of fear that her money might be wasted because she planted earlier thinking that rain might be favourable.
