Mrs. Betty Florence Masereka, a concerned citizen in Kasese has expressed concern over the manner in which some cultural norms are deteriorating among the communities across the district.

Mrs. Masereka says she is concerned that nowadays, it is rare to find the parents teaching their mother languages to the children, arguing that they have instead prioritized foreign languages including English.

She advises the parents to utilize the current school holiday break to sensitize their children about the modes of greeting, welcoming visitors, fluent speaking of mother languages, decent dressing codes and doing some domestic activities among others.

She also appeals to the parents to embrace the practice of assigning manageable roles and responsibilities to their children in an attempt to stop them from being redundant.

According to her, being redundant lures the youth into immoral activities that are not healthy to their lives.

She observed need for the parents and guardians to be feeding their children on traditional foods like yams in order for them to grow stronger and healthier.
