Christians urged to embrace almsgiving

BY ISAAC MUMBERE

Christians have been urged to embrace almsgiving as one of the ways to build their relationship with Christ.

Rev Muli Bwambale of Kogere church of Uganda says during this lent season, Christians ought to show mercy to the less previledged within the community.

Quoting the Biblical book of Galatians 6:1, Rev Muli said it is only the love for one another that can draw Christians closer to God.

The man of God made the comments yesterday in his homily to patients at Rukooki health centre IV.

Together with some parishioners from Rukoki, Rev Muli had visited the medical facility to not only pray with patients but also to extend some material assistance in form of posho, soap, millet, maize flour, sugar and some clothes.

He urged the care takers of patients to support one another especially at a time when they are attending to their sick relatives.

Mr. Enos Mutanywana the head of laity at Kogere parish says their visit is meant to inspire other believers to embrace love and unity.

Some patients expressed their gratitude for the items received before revealing that some of them are skipping meals because they cannot afford the standard three meals a day.

Dr. Abraham Masereka the in-charge at Rukooki health centre IV explained that the health unit has so many patients in dire need and appealed to people of good will to support them.
