Candidates vying for the Central Division LCIII seat pledge to boost night economy

BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

The need to boost the night economy in the Central Division of Kasese Municipality last evening dominated the speeches of the NRM candidates looking for the party flag for the position of L. C III Chairperson.

While addressing the electorate at a joint rally, the candidates said following the installation of streetlights in Kasese town, security at night has subsequently been boosted, a reason why they are the courting the residents to also support the night economy.

According to them, allowing the business operators to extend their operations to the night hours would help them to make more money and improve their livelihoods.

Mr. Deo Shaiza told the residents at Kasese Roundabout to make use of the streetlights to operate their businesses at night and increase their revenue, pledging that if elected, he would support the business sector.

On his part, Mr. Amos Kabagambe stressed that the government had implemented various initiatives aimed at supporting businesses in Kasese, adding that he would advocate for more industries so that they provide jobs to the community members.

Mr. Balam Baluku said while streetlights have improved the night economy, some areas in Kasese still require attention, such as hygiene and infrastructure in the outskirts of the urban centre.

Mr. John Kimadi highlighted that improving sanitation and infrastructure could further support businesses and enhance the quality of life through economic growth and development.
