The Born Again Faith in Kasese district with funding from Calvary Chapel Taos in the United States of America has donated an assortment of relief items to landslide victims encamped at Mapata Trading Centre in Bugoye Sub-county.
Recently, Kasese experienced heavy rains that caused mudslides which led to destruction of property and loss of lives in some parts of the district.
Led by Moses Thabugha, the Bishop of the Born Again Faith in Kasese who is also attached to Deliverance Outreach Ministries International (DOMI), the delegation delivered 1,250 kilograms of maize flour, salt, 15 tapelines, jerrycans, soap, clothes and dozens of saucepans to the 60 households currently staying in the camp.
While addressing the beneficiaries, Thabugha revealed that the money that was used to procure the relief items was solicited by Pr. John and Brother Joshua in the United States of America who managed raise USD 2500.
According to him, their decision to donate to the needy was to fulfill the scriptures as indicated in the Biblical Book of Jacob 1:27 which talks about a good religion that God accepts as pure and faultless as that which looks after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being.
He appealed to other religious denominations to also join the campaign of helping the landslide victims not only in Bugoye sub-county but also across the entire district.
Mr. Samson Kitanda, the Camp Chairperson and Maryzolina Ithungu, who commended the Born Again Faith for the donation, however, decried the challenge of congestion and lack of safe and clean drinking water at the camp.
