The Board of Governors at Bwera Secondary School in Kasese district is appealing to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to fulfill a pledge he made to the school three years ago.
On February 15, 2020, South Rwenzori Diocese, the Board of trustees St. Phillips Bwera Church of Uganda and Bwera Secondary School invited President Museveni to preside over a fundraising to solicit funds to construct a Girls’ Hostel at the church, a Science laboratory at Bwera SS and other funds to help in renovating Kitalikibi primary school.
It is noted the school science laboratory was estimated at shillings 250 million, a Girls’ hostel at shillings 60 million while Kitalikibi primary school was allocated shillings 60 million.
President Museveni pledged shillings 370 million to accomplish all the construction activities all the Girls’ Hostel, a Science laboratory at Bwera SS and to renovate Kitalikibi primary school. He paid a cash of shillings 30 million but the remaining balance of shillings 340 million still in vain.
Now, while delivering her speech on Friday at the School premises in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha town council, Aida Loy Mbabazi Syauswa a member of BOD asked the Junior Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Mr Kabbyanga to remind the Head of State about the multimillion pledge to the school in order to run its services sufficiently.
Kabbyanga was represented by the Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon Ferigo Kambale.
Mr. Joshua Mugenyi, the Patron for Bwera Secondary School Old Students Association- BWESSOSA, said the school is in the urgent need for a well-equipped school science laboratory to enhance the performance of the learners in science subjects.
The Kasese Municipality MP Ferigo committed to delivering the message to the Junior ICT minister who was said to be away in South Korea on national duty. Delivering a written speech to the gathering, Kambale indicated that Hon Kabbyanga had appealed to the students to be disciplined and work hard to excel.
