Bwera Government General Hospital in Mpondwe –Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasese district seeks for more staff to enhance service delivery. The health facility receives about 4,500 patients on a monthly basis.

The Senior Nursing Officer, Esther Atholere reveals that they attend to 150 clients daily who seek both out and in patient medical services against the number of health workers.

Her revelation was made on Friday while addressing the gathering and the District Senior Human Resource Officer as nurses at the facility celebrated the belated Nurses’ Day at the hospital’s premises.

According to Atholere, the number of the patients overlaps the manpower of the health workers especially the nurses and midwives.

Senior Hospital Administrator, Mr. Clarence Bwambale Mumbahya, stresses that due to the insufficient staff, they are forced to deploy only one nurse on each ward at every shift which is tiresome to them.

Kasese District Senior Human Resource Officer, Ms. Eveline Kabira in his remarks applauded the health workers for their commitment amidst the challenges they go through while serving Ugandans.  Maj. Yusuf Kadu, the 5th Mountain Battalion Commanding Officer, encouraged nurses to be patriotic as they execute their duties of extending health care to the people of Kasese.
