Busongora County South Member of Parliament launches Home Empowerment Program

The Busongora County South Member of Parliament in Kasese district has today officially launched his long awaited project codenamed “Omusabuli Home Empowerment Program” (OHEP).

The project that aims at enhancing household incomes in the constituency is one of the legislator’s political pledges he made to electorate in 2021.

Speaking during the project’s launch at Muhokya Roman Catholic Church in Muhokya Town Council, Hon. Gideon Thembo Mujungu revealed that the program would be revolving. According to him, each household would be given a seed livestock in form of a piglet or kid.

He explained that was planned that when a household in the third round of beneficiaries gets a piglet or kid, majority of the households in the village will have been touched.

Officiating at the launch, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walusimbi lauded the Member of Parliament’s initiative, adding that the project was supplementing many other programmes that the government has been able to introduce to the people so that they live economically transformed lives.  

Lt. Walusimbi encouraged the public to embrace all socio-economic programs for the government to realize her vision 20240.

Ms Margret Birungi, from one of the beneficiary groups, commended their area MP for the empowerment program, adding that it would help them to boost their incomes.
