Amazing Friends of Professionals Association (AFRIDA), a nongovernmental organization that brings the youth of different professions from Kasese district together has donated 30 mattresses to Bwera Government General Hospital in Mpondwe –Lhubiriha Town Council.
The donation which was delivered today is meant to improve the health services at the only government hospital in Kasese district.
While handing over the donation to the hospital management, Mrs. Rita Masika Mubatsi, the association’s Vice President, explained that as members they had to mobilize for funds to procure the mattresses after realizing that they were one of the challenges at the facility.
Mr. Yohoyadi Ndungo Mubatsi II, the association’s General Secretary noted that every year they collect money and support the needy community, adding that this year, they are planning to conduct a medical camp across the district to diagnose people of different ailments at a free cost.
Mr. Clarence Bwambale Mumbahya, the Senior Hospital Administrator at Bwera Government General Hospital, applauded the association’s members for the donation that he described as timely. According to him, the facility was facing a challenge of lack of mattresses, forcing some of the patients to sleep on empty beds.
Mr. Ericana Musoka, the Chairperson Board of Governors at Bwera Government General Hospital, commended the association for the donation and challenged other organizations to borrow a leaf from AFRIDA for the benefit of the community.
