A section of residents from Ibanda – Kyanya Town Council in Kasese district is currently counting losses after a water pipe belonging to Kilembe Mines Limited developed a leakage, forcing water to stray into their crop gardens.
The incident happened today afternoon at around 3pm.
Mr. Modesto Bwambale Kanekerya, the Town Council Chairperson told our reporter in a telephone interview that crop gardens belonging to at least eight people were destroyed during the incident.
He is so fearful that the affected residents might be hit by famine, appealing to government and Civil Society Organizations to come to their rescue.
Today’s incident comes barely after five months after a related incident happened in the area.
