Abdul Kasita further remanded to Mubuku Government Prison

Abdul Kasita, a renowned herbalist in Kasese district has been further remanded to Mubuku Government Prison on allegations of poisoning and murdering two juveniles.

Kasita today reappeared before the Kasese Chief Magistrate, Her Worship Betty Ajok for mention of his case but he was only told to return to prison as the Magistrate argued that her court does not her jurisdiction to handle the matter.

It is alleged on August 08, 2024 while at Kogere in Rukoki Ward of Nyamwamba Division in Kasese Municipality, Kasita poisoned Catherine Kabugho, aged 10 and Caroline Mbambu, aged 08.  

The deceased minors were his stepdaughters.

Sources allege that Kasita served chapatti laced with poison and soda to the victims who later developed complications and were rushed to Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese town for treatment from where they were pronounced dead.

While in court today, her Worship Ajok told the suspect to reappear in court on September 24 for mention of his case and as he awaits to be committed to the High Court for trial of his case.
