A 39- year-old woman in Kasese Municipality has revealed that she has been able to live a socio-economic transformed life from a brick- making project that has constantly practiced for the last 10 years.
Scoviah Biira, a resident of Nyakasojo Lower Cell in Nyakabingo III Ward, Bulembia Division who has four children in the 20 years she has been in marriage says opted to initiate a brick-making project as her last resort after failing to do well in poultry keeping and operating a general merchandise shop located at her marital home.
In an interaction with Messiah Radio today morning, Biira explained that her final decision to venture into brick- making followed a piece of advice from a neighbor who told her to shun her former businesses because the thieves would come at night and run away with everything, leaving her in losses.
She told our reporter that upon receipt of the piece of advice, she started with 400,000 and used manual labour to try if the project would work out. She is proud that the project is doing well to a level that she is earning not less than 15 million in a year.
The now experienced mother says she has been able to build a permanent house, facilitate the upgrade of her husband’s education and pay school fees for her children.
She has since appealed to her fellow women to borrow a leaf from her history in order for them to be able to generate wealth within their own means.
