The police issue a comment about the two flood victims in Kasese

The Police in Kasese have revealed that the two deaths that occurred during the recent floods from River Nyamwamba were due to the victim’s deliberate attempt to temper with the running waters.

The floods that started on Saturday morning caused destruction of property and claimed lives of two Ugandans.

SP Wilfred Isaiah Bagenda, the Kasese Central Police Division Commander revealed the observation last evening while addressing the members of the District Disaster Management Committee during at the Mayors Gardens.

SP Bagenda noted that the deceased were allegedly lacking information about the effects of running waters, a reason they attempted to temper with it.

He appealed to the local leaders to sensitize the people about the need to always shy away reaching areas that have experienced flooding.

Evelyn Mugume, the Kasese Municipal Senior Environment Officer revealed that the same incident left more than 2060 people affected.

Mustafa Kikusa, the Kasese District Principal Assistant Secretaryobserved that there was need for all the leaders to rise their voices against the people who temper with water channels when carrying out their agricultural activities.
