Parents who have children at Busara Primary School in Muhokya Sub-county in Kasese district have suggested that the five pupils who set an allegation of homosexuality against their Head teacher be arrested , suspended and punished.
It is said that for the last two weeks, the pupils; two in Primary Seven and three in Primary Six, accused their Head teacher for allegedly involving them in acts of homosexuality.
Such unfounded information attracted the attention of the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO), Management Committee, Political leaders and the Office of the District Education Officer and the South Rwenzori Diocesan Education Office.
Following the rumors that later circulated on some social media platforms, the various stakeholders were forced to conduct independent meetings aimed at investigating the matter.
Yesterday, the same stakeholders called for a joint meeting involving the parents to listen to the views of the community members, parents and guardians of the five pupils about the matter.
During the meeting, some parents including Dulisi Nyabathangyi, Eric Masereka and Fenahasi Masereka Mulyambutho Kitenge among others said from their own observation, the children could have been set by people with selfish interests to defame the Head teacher, a reason why they called for their arrest so that they are punished.
Mr. Julius Kule Ndungo, the Sub-county Chief conquered with the parents and argued that there could be some people who are sponsoring the children to proceed with their move against the Head teacher.
Mr. Costa Kisura, the L. C I Chairperson for Busara village told the meeting that he had personally interviewed the ringleader of the children and found that they were circulating baseless information about the Head teacher.
Mr. Asanairi Mugusu, the Sub-county Chairperson told the stakeholders meeting that he was surprised when he heard the allegation against the Head teacher that he described as hardworking and committed towards the development of the institution.
He disclosed that there was need for the elders in the area to find out the reasons why some Head teachers who are posted to the institution get public threats that lead to misunderstandings between the parents and administration.
Mr. John Rugarama, the Kasese District Inspector of Schools in-charge of Busongora County South said as the Education Department, they would not transfer the Head teacher basing on allegations, adding that more teachers would be posted to the institution to support the existing staff.
He, however, ordered for the immediate closure of the boarding facilities that are accommodating the Primary Seven Candidates.
Mr. Zepher Mubingwa, the Kasese Deputy RDC in-charge of Busongora County pledged to investigate the people who could be behind the act against the Head teacher.
Rev. Asa Masereka Kiriaghe, the South Rwenzori Diocesan Director of Education described the situation as a temptation, appealing to all the stakeholders to forgive one another and ensure that peace prevails.
