The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Commissioner in-charge of Rwenzori sub-region has called upon all the heads of political parties in Kasese district to mobilize resources and support the people who are currently living in the temporarily established camps across the district.
Kasese district has continuously been receiving heavy rains causing disastrous mudslides and floods that do not only destroy people’s houses but also lead to loss of lives.
Mr. Saulo Maate says the people especially politicians should supplement the efforts of different organizations to donate food and non food items to the affected persons.
He sounded the remarks last evening while addressing the press at the Kasese District FDC Branch Offices in Kasese town.
According to him, the people living in the camps are suffering because most of their belongings including crops were destroyed and buried by the mudslides.
The outspoken FDC leader also appeals to the district leaders to quickly resolve the issues surrounding the relocation of flood victims encamped at Muhokya so that they are given a permanent settlement to enable them embark on their development projects.
However, Mr. Maate says he is skeptical that the process of resettling the victims encamped at Muhokya might delay following some conflicts on the piece of land that the leaders are always talking about.
