Body of fallen Anglican Church Minister laid to rest

The body of the fallen Anglican Church Minister attached to South Rwenzori Diocese has been laid to rest at All Saints Kyanya II Church of Uganda Parish in Maliba Archdeaconry.

Rev. Eric Bweruka, who has been serving as the Vicar at St. Thomas Nyangorongo Church of Uganda Parish succumbed to Asthma yesterday at Rukooki Health Centre IV in Nyamwamba Division.

Rev. Can. Nelson Walina, the Diocesan Secretary explained to the mourners that the decision to bury the fallen Man of God at the church was reached after reading the will that he had made before his demise.

The Diocesan Secretary also revealed that the Anglican Church Priests in South Rwenzori Diocese also made a resolution that mandates the church to be burying their bodies at their respective places of work at the time of their demise.

He also told the mourners that the Diocese was planning to have a Vicars’ Garden where they would be burying priests who die after making wills which indicate that they would be buried in the church premises.

Mr. Simon Musale, the Head of Laity at St. Thomas Nyangorongo Church of Uganda Parish, observed need for the church and the entire Christians to support the bereaved family.

At the burial ceremony, a fundraising drive aimed at soliciting funds to support the ongoing construction works of the Late Rev. Bweruka’s country home in Butsumba cell, Rukooki Ward in Kasese Municipality was launched and shillings 3.7 million was collected out of the shillings 25 million that is needed to have the building completed.

In his remarks, Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, the South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop asked the Christians and the entire community members to support the family so that Late Rev. Bweruka’s house is completed.

The prelate requested the Christians from Nyangorongo Parish to push for the outstanding programme since the family needs to be settled at a later time.

Born on November 15, 1964, the fallen Church Minister was married to Victoria Masika Bweruka with whom they wedded on December 18, 1981 and have 10 children but with six of them still alive.

      He has gone early. The fields / harvests are still much but the harvesters have reduced by one. We shall miss him until we meet up again. May his soul rest in glory.
