Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court grants bail to the proprietor of Skyz Lounge

Mr. Bernard Chance, the proprietor of Skyz Lounge in Kasese town has regained temporary freedom after the being granted bail by the Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Mr. Chance is battling two accounts of malicious damage and attempted murder stemming from an act in which the suspect attempted to knock dead Ms Gladys Ainebyona Nandejje using his car registration number UBD 043A Marcedes Benz while at Kasese Central Police Station on February 01, 2024.

He was subsequently arrested by police and later produced before court that remanded him to Mubuku Government Prison.

Yesterday afternoon, Court presided over by the Kasese Chief Magistrate; Her Worship Betty Ajok granted cash bail of shillings 2.5 million on the two accounts to the suspect.

For malicious damage, Mr. Chance was ordered to pay shillings 500,000 cash while his two sureties including Prosy Shemerirwe and Edgar Nkonzi were granted non cash bail of shillings 1 million each.

On attempt murder, the suspect was given cash bail of shillings 2 million while his sureties including Eddy Kasoke and a one Achali were granted non cash bail of shillings 10 million each.

The Defense Lawyer, Geoffrey Michele, who was represented by Counsel Luke Kanyonyi had earlier asked court to grant his client bail following the days he has been on remand. Counsel Kanyonyi adds: …

Her Worship Ajok did not reject Kanyonyi’s plea and granted bail to Mr. Chance but ordered him to return to court on May 22, 2024.
