The Rwenzururu King, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma has commended the Microfinance Support Centre (MSC) – Uganda for its continuous support to his subjects in the entire Rwenzori Sub-region.
The Microfinance Support Centre – Uganda is a government owned financial institution incorporated in 2001 with a mandate to offer affordable credits and business development services to its targeted clients.
Now, the Omusinga says he is aware that during a period of close to seven years he has been under incarceration, government through the Microfinance Support Centre has been supporting his subjects both financially and materially under the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation (Emyooga) programme which was launched in 2019.
The Rwenzururu cultural leader, who regrets the November 26 and 27, 2016 attacks on the institution’s administrative offices and his Buhikira Royal Palace in Kasese town, describes the period he has been under incarceration together with his Royal Guards as a difficult moment for him and a section of his subjects in the entire Kingdom, adding that the incident created widows and orphans who need physical, psychosocial and spiritual support.
He, however, stresses that through the Emyooga programme, his subjects especially those who were directly affected by the attacks have had their hopes restored when they received affordable seed capital, grants and capacity building trainings.
The Omusinga thus applauds the Microfinance Support Centre for standing with the Kingdom even when he was in prison.
He sounded the remarks Tuesday evening while speaking to Ms Hellen Petronilla Masika, the Deputy Executive Director of the Microfinance Support Centre who had paid a courtesy visit to him at his Kamaiba based Royal Palace in Kasese town.
The Omusinga, on the other hand, appreciates government for implementing various programmes in the region through the Microfinance Support Centre which according to him are key solutions to some security issues in the area.
In her remarks, Ms Hellen Petronilla Masika, who described her visit to the King as a blessing, revealed that the Microfinance Support Centre was more than ready to partner with the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu and all her organs including ministries, committees and Rwenzururu Nyabaghole Foundation for Development in extending services to the subjects.
