Grief engulfed the residents of Kanamba village in Karusandara Sub County, Kasese District this evening as the casket containing the body of the fallen Local Council III Chairperson was lowered down into the grave.
John Charles Mukiiza, who was born on January 05, 1973, died yesterday morning at Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital in Kasese town.
Whereas the family report did not indicate the cause of his death, the deceased is said to have been sickly for some good time.
While preaching to the mourners, Rev. Johncaison Thembo Murabyo, the South Rwenzori Assistant Director of Mission in-charge of Muslim Evangelism challenged the people to set their lives apart, adding that they are God’s temples.
The Anglican Church of Uganda Minister discouraged Christians from joining mushrooming religions which according to him mislead the people through compromising some positive norms including medication.
Speaker after speaker at the burial ceremony including the Busongora County South Member of Parliament, Gideon Thembo Mujungu described the fallen Sub-county Chairperson as a development oriented leader with a lobbying capacity for his people.
Mujungu, who regretted the untimely demise of Mukiiza, however, encouraged the community members to embrace the practice of going regular medical checkups so that they ascertain their health statuses.
The Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, who was the Chief Mourner, also regretted the untimely death of his fellow National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre.
The District Boss used the same platform to advise the general public to embrace formal education as one way of attaining popularity.
According to him, government has established schools to help the parents educate their children and leave behind sounding and positive legacies after their demise.
